Re: What are good headphones with low end response?
You could try the sonarworks reference plugin for flattening out headphone colouration. It includes a setting for the headphones you use and is cheaper than buying new headphones. I use it with HD650s. It might help in combination with referencing other tracks and the visual tools you are using.

Re: Percussion energy, without adding elements or more midi?
nice groove, big improvement on 1st version - can't help wondering what it would sound like at a slightly lower bpm to give the groove even more space between notes

Re: Percussion energy, without adding elements or more midi?
Saturation can give some more energy without adding more midi - sound toys decapitator or u-he satin is nice on kicks. If you are using ableton, racks is a great way to add character to a sound. You could put your kick in a rack then add a sub e.g sine, tune it and dial in a small amount in the rack...

Re: What non-techno are you listening to right now?
I've been discovering old clips of Soul Train on Youtube recently. Remember the Soul Train line? Members of the audience showing off their moves dancing towards the camera to the cool sounds of the day. Love seeing some of those old fashions. Anyway check this out from 1973, possibly the funkiest t...

Re: Headphone Amp question
Have a similar question that I have been meaning to post. Ive been using sennheiser HD650's for years. Have an old motu traveler audio interface although often just plug headphones straight into laptop. A person I was getting some tuition with told me I could really benefit from getting a headphone ...

Re: Creating noise for Techno
In some respects I think these long drawn out noises in a lot of tracks are taking the slam out of techno. Many tracks would sound great if the drums and percussive elements had more room in the mix without droney stuff filling up all the spaces. But yeah a field recorder is nice for adding some int...

Re: PSP Vintage Warmer on Each Track?
Really appreciate the advice here . There hasn't been much time for producing over the past few years, hence my referencing vintage warmer which had been recommended to me on a course a few years ago. Have been getting back into trying to make some music again (very jealous of the other subsekt post...

Re: PSP Vintage Warmer on Each Track?
Wow, thanks for the advice. PSP VW was recommended to me years ago when I first started learning but I never really got to know it and stopped using it. I was recently trying it again but sounds like things have progressed a lot in this area. I was suspecting it was sounding a bit harsh. Will give s...
