U-He offer

U-He plugins 50% off via Native Instruments.

Are any of these worth having? There was plenty of buzz a few years ago. Do they still stand out? Might be tempted by the Pro 1/5 but haven't been using much software lately.

Re: Disney Plus tips

I've only recently started with Disney and currently on a nostalgia trip. All the Alien films are going down well, despite the declining quality as the series progresses. Also rewatching X Files for the first time since it first aired. It's almost unbelievable how much of the conspiratorial thinking...

Re: Hardware recording techniques in relation to mixer, aux send, euro effects, pedals, dry v.s. wet recordings

I wouldn't worry too much about finding the 'perfect' way to record. Using different equipment in different ways often leads to different results. Just a few ideas: -If you record with fx baked in and you later decide you dont like it it's not the end of the world. You can still use the audio to chu...

Re: Elektron Digitakt

How are people getting in with the Digitakt in 2022? It's been around for a while now but had some updates, is it still a useful bit of kit? I've previously just taken my computer to be a big sampler but I'm sick to death of looking at the computer screen at the moment. Something portable for jammi...

Re: Reverb 2022

I`m looking for a good spring reverb vst. Any recommends? SKnote do one for like 30 quid or so. I've not used it and keep meaning to pick it up but for some unknown reason I haven't. There don't seem to be that many spring reverb vsts around but I have a few SKnote plugins and they're really good.

Re: Only bass-traps for treatment?

I haven't ever treated a room but did do a shit load of reading about it so may be able to offer some semi-useful advice to save you some time in getting started. Have realistic goals. If you have a small room then you are unlikely to get a great bass response regardless of the treatment you install...

Re: Interface for driving k702 akg

I had a Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 (1st gen) and the headphone amp didn't cut it for those cans. Introduced a lot of noise when getting them to a suitable level - and I dont go loud with headphones. I had an Audient iD22 after that and the headphone amp in that was pretty good, plenty of juice to dri...

Re: Interface for driving k702 akg

If the reliability issues have been resolved then my Audient experience was otherwise very positive and I don't think you can go wrong with Audient in those smaller formats. Although as a Cubase user I will have to disagree with your generalisation of Steinberg. Sure there are legit things to compla...

Best/least shitty streaming services

What streaming services are people using for music/podcasts?

I don't use them but my girlfriend has just got rid of Spotify and trying to replace it with something that isn't completely scummy. Are there any good options out there?

Re: Freebies: Izotope Trash 2 and some weird NI thing

I sold Trash 2 a few years ago when I had a plugin clear out. As a distortion I dont think it is very good at all.

That being said, there have been a few times recently where I've wanted to use it and been really disappointed when I remembered I don't have it anymore. I'll be giving it another go.

Re: Black Friday Yay Capitalism links

I don't seem to be that interested in much this year. I picked up Sketchcassette 2 over at plugin boutique which was reduced from £25 to £15. Only had a quick play pushing it to extremes so far but it sounds pretty cool to me. I find the GUI really cute and kind of...refreshing too. Also thinking ab...

Re: Sennheiser-HD25 vs. AKG-K701

Based on what you want to use them for I think you will need at least 2 different pair. I have the k702 and there is absolutely no way I would use them for running. They are big and spongy/foamy and I wouldn't even use them for a walk outside. They are also useless for DJing as they have no isolatio...

Re: Curious - anyone on here use a DAW other than Live?

Sometimes theres a simple reason why something gets used by the majority... Totally understand this. Happens alot. Just the childish nature in me tbh. As soon as something starts being adopted by the majority, i'm starting to look for the alternative. It can seem somewhat petty or childish but so o...

Re: Low end synth advice

Waldorf Pulse 2 may also do you. The oscillators are immense and the mod matrix makes it more modulatable then anything else I can think of for an analogue mono at that price point. Footprint is small too. On the down side I find the filter to be a bit meh and live tweaking could be limited due to t...

Re: Low end synth advice

I just picked up a Peak this week and my early impressions are that it is superb. Not had too much time to explore it but lovely sounds just seem to fall out of it without much effort. Has some heft to it too. Based on your criteria I would definitely recommend trying one out, if you haven't already...

Not in the market for a drum machine but if I were this would be a strong contender. Lovely bit of kit that.
