Not grumpy. Personally I spend a lot of time here trying to to reveal techniques and I try to present the information in as simple a way as possible. Thanks dubdub for the link but theres more going on than that I can create a kick like that with my Rytm an some quick fab pro c. A/B that track I linked with that kick and you will see what I mean.. its round and has a lot more presence. Maybe its in the mastering I don't know but thats why Im asking

I understand compression, multi band distortion, tape saturation, layering is at play however there is something else that gives this kick that extra whomp. Im wondering if it is in fact the original source not processing...

Maybe is from a Jomox Alpha Base or Modbass 09.

Ive got to a certain point in my kick sound design and I feel I've hit a wall. Im wondering if anyone has any tips to get a big round kick similar to the one in this track.

Thanks for your informed answers Sekt Yeh compression and getting levels, bottom etc to match the dj’s was one of my head scratches considering the tunes obviously won’t be mastered.. Will software compressors and limiters suffice? Like fab C and fab L etc? Or should I invest in a hardware compresso...

Just wondering on peeps tips, habits, must do’s and donts on playing live..

As in playing their own music to an audience in whatever form that may be.
